Course Details:

This studio light Maternity and Motherhood workshop begins with a motherhood shoot demonstrating a simplistic style in capturing the love between mother and baby. We will then move into the maternity portion for the remainder of the workshop. During this intimate and connective workshop, we will teach you how to see the light and create simple studio setups to create visually stunning images. You will learn to maximize each setup with angles and posing to achieve a variety of heirloom images your clients will love.

You will be able to shoot alongside Jade and Jay to apply the concepts learned throughout the course and leave with newly acquired skills and creative new images for your portfolio.

We understand not everyone is at the same level of photoshop, so for your comfort (and time constraints) we will provide an in-depth retouching video by world-renowned retoucher and educator, Pratik Naik. He will show you a full retouching workflow that is maternity specific. We will also provide you with his retouching actions so you can hop right in!

During this course, Jade and Jay will give you guidance on:

  • How to create a comfortable and luxurious experience for your client

  • Client preparation and studio wardrobe

  • Their favorite lighting setups

  • Camera settings and techniques

  • How to create a variety of stunning images

  • Posing

  • How to work with fabrics, draping techniques, and working with movement

About Your Instructors

Jade Elizabeth is known for her intimate artistic approach to portraiture. She specializes in maternity, newborn and portrait photography with an emphasis on revealing natural beauty and diversity in a variety of skin types. Jade’s affinity for natural beauty and the female form came from her upbringing in Florida. While everyone else was sunbathing, Jade’s fair complexion and freckles became an integral part of her sense of self and her love for helping others feel comfortable in their own skin. Jade mindfully brings her love for skin tones into her work. She simplifies maternity sessions by making them less about what clients are wearing and more about loving the skin they are in. She now lives and works in Houston, Texas. She creates timeless and artistic portraits for all women.

Jay Coy is a luxury maternity and conceptual fine art photographer from the Boston, MA area. He focuses on bringing out the true beauty of his clients during a time they usually feel quite the opposite. Jay’s aim is to truly help you to realize how special of a time this is in your life and to capture that moment so it lives on forever. Raised by a hard-working and struggling single mom who never got to truly enjoy life, Jay wants to bring joy to his clients when their focus is usually so far from their own selves. Like Jade, Jay creates timeless and artistic portraits by simplifying sessions. Making them focus on your own skin rather than what you are wearing.
